What will happen to all the information already stored in my old SIM Card?
Take care not to lose it. These are a few ways to safeguard your information, depending on both your handset and the Dealer.
If you are keeping the handset, check the manual to find out if there is an option to save the information from the SIM into the handset.
If you are getting a new handset at the same time, note down all the information on the old SIM Card before it is turned off as part of the cancellation of the old service.
Some Dealers may have the capacity to download the information from SIM on to a computer and then to upload it on to the new SIM but this is not a standard Dealer capability.
Can a customer use the current SIM while waiting for his number to be ported over?
Yes, the customer can still use his/ her current SIM while waiting for his/ her number to be ported. There should be no service interruption for the customer. During this period, the customer should be able to make calls using the current service providers SIM Card. However, the customer must settle all charges in the original service provider's final bill.
Will there be service disruptions during the porting process?
There should not be any service disruption during the porting process to #Hotlink. Your current service provider has to ensure that there should be no change in the service offerings already subscribed to by the customer during the porting process. Your subscribed services (including content services) can only be terminated after the new service provider has activated your new service and your old SIM Card deactivated. As for International Roaming services, your current service provider reserves the right to suspend this service during the porting process period.
