What is Merchantrade Insure Basic?

  • Merchantrade Insure Basic (M – Insure Basic) is developed by Merchantrade Asia Sdn. Bhd. in partnership with and underwritten by AXA Affin General Insurance Berhad.
  • Merchantrade Asia Sdn. Bhd. is a licensed micro-insurance distributor, approved by Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM).

About M – Insure Basic Policy Coverage

What does M – Insure Basic Insurance cover?

  • The policy provides 24/7 worldwide protection to the Insured in the form of compensation in the event of a sudden and unforeseen accident. The benefits cover:
    i. temporary disablement
    ii. permanent disablement
    iii. death due to an accident occurring within 1 year of the accident date
  • Hospital Allowance of RM50 per day, claimable for every 24 hours of hospitalization1
  • Temporary Disablement Allowance of RM100 every 5 days, claimable for every complete 5 days of being issued a Medical Certificate (MC) by a qualified medical practitioner 1
  • Accidental death & permanent disablement of up to RM9, 000 2

How many M – Insure Basic policies can I own?

  • If you choose to purchase your policy monthly, only ONE policy is allowed at any time of subscription via Hotlink App.
  • If you intend to purchase more than one policy; the subsequent policy will begin after the expiry of the current policy.
  • However, if you are on auto-renewal you wouldn’t be able to purchase another policy.

What are the major benefits of M – Insure Basic?
The total sum insured per adult is up to RM9, 000 should you have passed away due to an accident or sustained an accidental bodily injury which results in permanent disablement.

What are the major benefits of purchasing M – Insure Basic from Hotlink?

  • The convenience of purchasing your insurance policy by using Hotlink credit.
  • The insurance policy is affordable and has the option of auto renewal or individual monthly policies.

* Auto-renewed policies will automatically be deducted from your Hotlink credit.

What are the major exclusions under this policy?

This policy does not cover the following:

  • Any unlawful act, willful exposure to danger, suicide or intentional self-injury
  • Any pre-existing physical or mental defect or infirmity, illness, disease, bacterial or viral infections
  • Dengue or any other mosquito borne diseases
  • HIV and/or any HIV related illness including AIDS and/or any mutant derivatives
  • Intoxication by drugs
  • Pregnancy, childbirth or miscarriages
  • Any person who drives the vehicle who does not hold a valid license issued by a competent authority
  • Dangerous sports e.g. winter sports, pot-holding, skin-diving, skiing, hockey polo, steeple chasing, big game hunting or hunting, racing other than foot
  • Flying other than as a passenger in a licensed passenger carrying aircraft
  • War, invasion, rebellion and terrorism
  • Regular or temporary civil defense air force naval military or police duties

Where can I purchase M – Insure Basic Plan?
M – Insure Basic Plan is available for purchase via the Hotlink App.

Who can purchase M – Insure Basic policy via Hotlink App?

  • This product is available for individuals working or residing in Malaysia (Malaysians/Foreigners), aged between 18 to 65 years old who are on Hotlink Prepaid Video ONLY.
  • Identification Document submitted by subscribers must not have expired for more than a year upon subscription registration.

I have an existing M – Insure Basic policy with Merchantrade, can I still purchase this policy?

I have insufficient balance and failed to auto-renew my existing monthly subscription. What can I do?

  • Top up your Hotlink credit sufficiently.
  • Repurchase the M – Insure Basic policy from your Hotlink App. Ensure that the auto-renew option has been ticked.
  • You will be charged for a new policy and will be auto-renewed accordingly.

I have purchased a single month insurance policy and want it to auto-renew. What do I do?

  • Log in to your Hotlink App and follow the same steps on purchasing another the M – Insure Basic policy.
  • Ensure that the auto-renew option is ticked.
  • Your policy will auto-renew after your current policy expires.
  • You will be charged RM5 only on the date of your next renewal policy.

How do I know that I am covered?

  • Upon purchasing the insurance policy, you will receive an SMS with your M – Insure membership number and period of coverage.
  • You will also be able to view the basic details of your insurance policy under “My Insurance” on your Hotlink RED App Insurance category.
  • Alternatively, you may also contact M – Insure Customer Support to check on your coverage.

Making a Claim

How do I make a claim on my M – Insure Basic policy?

  • You, your nominee or trusted representative will need to visit the nearest Merchantrade branch, fill up a Claim form and handover all supporting documents required.
  • If you, your nominee or trusted representative is unable to visit a branch to submit a claim, or require any further assistance, please contact M-Insure Customer Support.

What are the documents required to make a claim?

How long after I’ve made a claim will I be paid?

  • Claims will be paid within 5 working days for payments within Malaysia*.
  • Payments outside of Malaysia may require more than 5 days.
  • Claims will be paid via Merchantrade Money VISA Prepaid card, bank account and Merchantrade Remittance Services only.

*Kindly take note that the duration is subject to claim submission requirements being met, and may vary from case-to-case.

Cancelling of M-Insure Basic Policy

How do I cancel my policy?
Visit the closest Merchantrade Branch and fill up the Cancellation form.

Do I get a refund if I cancel my policy?

You will receive a full refund during free-look/cooling-off period of fifteen (15) calendar days from the date of policy inception provided that no claim has been made or is pending under your policy. Refunds will be made through your Merchantrade Money VISA Prepaid card or bank account ONLY.

I want to deactivate my insurance policy’s auto-renewal, how do I do this?

Please visit the closest Merchantrade Branch and fill up the Auto-Renewal Cancellation form OR contact M-Insure Customer Support.
