Frequently Asked Questions

5G Roaming

  • Yes, 5G is available in selected countries through partner operators. To experience 5G speeds while abroad, you must meet the following requirements:

    • A Hotlink Postpaid 5G plan or a 5G Internet Pass (for Prepaid).
    • A valid data roaming pass for a 5G-enabled country.
    • A 5G-capable device.
    • A 4G LTE SIM card.
    • 5G toggled ON in your device settings.
    • Connection to a 5G-supported partner network.

Once these requirements are met, your phone will automatically latch onto the 5G network where available.

  • Using 5G while travelling provides a significantly enhanced experience. When connected to a supported partner operator overseas, your roaming data speeds will be much faster than standard 4G, allowing:

    • Quicker browsing and loading times.
    • Higher-quality video streaming.
    • Smoother navigation and map usage.
    • Faster uploads and downloads.
    • Reduced latency for video calls or work apps.

This leads to a more seamless and reliable international data roaming experience overall.

  • You can check all 5G-supported countries and operators through Hotlink’s international data roaming page. Select your destination and review the “Network Operator” section to see whether 5G is available.

    • Open the Hotlink international roaming page.
    • Use the country dropdown.
    • Pick your destination.
    • The page instantly shows all call, SMS, and international data roaming rates.
  • No, you do not need to pay any additional fee beyond your existing roaming plan or roaming data pass. If the country supports 5G roaming and your plan/device is compatible, you will automatically enjoy 5G connectivity at no extra cost.

  • 5G may not work for several reasons, including:

    • The country or operator does not support 5G roaming.
    • You are not connected to a preferred 5G partner network.
    • Your plan does not include 5G access.
    • 5G is disabled in your device settings.
    • Your device is not 5G-capable.

Manually switching operators may resolve the issue in some destinations.

  • 5G roaming will not have any additional charges.
